Bernardo Saraiva Cracks the ATP TOP 200 In the Aptos Men’s Challenger
I always enjoy playing in Aptos since it is very close from San Francisco, where I spent a lot of time this past few years.
This year’s tournament was very positive for me. Reaching the semi finals in doubles allowed me to reach my career high ranking of 208 ATP.
“That was an important victory. First round matches are never easy at this level and this one gave us a lot of confidence going into the quarter-finals.”
I partner with my friend Evan Hoyt from Great Britain. It was only the second time we played together but everything started to connect very well. In the first round, we came back from one set down to beat Dominik Koepfer (113 ATP) and Marcos Giron (155 ATP).
That was an important victory. First round matches are never easy at this level and this one gave us a lot of confidence going into the quarter-finals.
In the quarters, we were able to carry the good momentum and beat another great team, Zhe Li (146 ATP) and Egor Gerasimov (129 ATP).
A hight level game
It was a high level match that got us closer to our goal of winning the title. At this moment, all our focus was on the semi-finals.
I was feeling really good going into the match and so was my partner. play We were schedule to play late on Center Court. It was a great atmosphere and we played a solid match. However we were not able to make it to the final. Losing to Nathan Pasha (138 ATP) and Max Schnur (ex top 100 ATP) in a very close match.
Overall, to reach the semi-finals and play at a very high level in a tournament like this was very positive. I felt like I improved a lot and was able to compete well against very tough opponents.
